What do you get when you combine a fairy nymph, assassin warrior, and a sling blade droid? I don’t know either, but I would think it might be along the lines of the jewelry line HaremRoyal.

I know. Take some deep breaths. I had to stop and take a moment to visualize all the  beauty and imagination that each piece exudes.

The pieces in this collection are so other worldly that my brain can’t even process some of these items! The use of such amazing materials literally blows my mind. Real taxidermy butterfly wings, porcupine quills, 24kt gold blades, pearls, and exotic skins?! The proportions and the architecture of these pieces are so on point and I can see myself wearing each and every piece. There is such a prestigious and refined quality in these pieces that are usually hard to come by with the steam-punk genre of jewels. Each piece is made in Belgrade by Srdjan, who handcrafts each piece.

I WANT THEM ALL.

UPDATE:
I got the amazing opportunity to interview and pick the brain of Srdjan. Here are some questions that were asked. You won’t be disappointed.

1. What were your inspirations in creating the line?

I am interested in moments of transformation within the precious objects that bridge the gaps between who we are when we are vulnerable and who we are when we are unbreakable. I have found the inspiration from pagan beliefs and Greek myths to Jung’s understanding of the psyche and boisterous nature of sublime, with the hint of therianthropy as an experimental view of identity and metamorphosis. I am trying to balance between the Oriental need for seduction and the Western hunger for the power, and also to satisfy the clashing demands of women’s secret desires. Beauty is weapon and this profound blend morphing with combustible attraction and personally, I get the immense arousal from perceiving objects that threaten to hurt or destroy with their turbulent nature.

2. How would you describe the aesthetic of your creations?

Deconstructive, Eclectic And Dangerous.I love to break things into their smallest segments and facilitate their progressive metamorphosis, infinite manipulation and endless play with different styles, while maintaining basic identity, aesthetics and function.

3. Are there any jewelers out in the market now that inspire you?

Shaune Leane jewelry designer best known for his collaboration with Alexander McQueen and Mia Krstic jewelry designer behind the Erickson Beamon, also I`m very fond of the work of Rene Lalique and Lucien Gaillard.

4. How are your insects and skins that you use in your pieces chosen?

In a world where not many new and exotic breeds are discovered, I use the most beautiful creatures in my pieces to evoke wonder. The creatures are transformed and given a new life as the objects of astonishment. Pieces are completely hand crafted from a mixture of metals, mostly cooper with a palette of finishes, from the finest 24 karat gold plate to various forms of cupric patina. Exotic skins and fur, genuine butterfly, moth, dragonfly wings and pearls are incorporated on the highly tasteful level providing tactile and provocative experience. The natural materials are sourced from ethical outlets, keeping things as cruelty free as possible. All of the organic materials are either recycled or come from reliable, legal sources or they are collected during my childhood days.

5. Are you formally trained in jewelry design?

I started my career as a costume designer in the theatre and continued to develop the technical costumes skills in the movie industry. Later on, I have worked as a fashion accessories designer, where I’ve been producing designs for fashion weeks in Milan, Paris and New York. It was very hectic and challenging but also ephemeral, so I lusted for something eternal and etheric, and that’s how Harem Royal – Screwpulous Jewellery line begin.

6. Where do you see your line in 5 years?

I would love to challenge myself challenge myself to deliver perversely elegant greatness beyond the known and the unknown, where imagination flies and fantasy is the ultimate limit, or simply to cut, burn, scrap and smash my way to the top.

* Thank you Srdjan!
